With akadama and keiseki you can create your own mix of substrate that works best for your bonsai. We recommended for the Dutch climate 70% akadama and 30% keiseki for deciduous trees and 50% akadama and 50% keiseki for coniferous bonsai. This bonsai pack will let you experiment with different mixes depending on the needs of your bonsai. Akadama, is a volcanic red soil. It keeps the moisture well due to its granular structure and has good water permeability, reducing the risk of rotting roots. A neutral soil, suitable for all tree species especially deciduous trees. Contains no nutrients or trace elements. Used in combination with keiseki used for conifers and juniper.

Keiseki or Bims provides extra air for the roots and is used for both deciduous and coniferous trees. The color is cream/white Pumice stones (Japan)
