The Acer palmatum or Japanese maple is a deciduous shrub and is distinguished by its unique red leaf color in the Spring. The Spring colors of the leaves are so beautiful that they can stand on its own against most flowers. The bright red foliage of the Acer palmatum turns into dark pink to blush green in the Summer and in the Autumn turns into beautiful shades of red and orange.
