The Carmona Microphylla or the Fukien-tea is a true indoor bonsai of tropical origin. It is excellent to keep indoors all year round. In the summer when the outside temperature day and night is above 15 degrees C it can stand for a while outside. Below 15 degrees it becomes quickly too cold. They are suitable for all bonsai styles. This bonsai originates from China. The tree naturally has very small leaves and a compact growth habit, so it can be formed by pruning, wiring is rarely necessary. Small short blooming star-shaped flowers appear between the glossy dark green leaves, usually in the spring or early summer. Sometimes they develop green berries that turn red when ripe.
